Karachi Kings won its first match of HBL PSL V 2020 against Peshawar Zalmi by 10 runs. Zalmi's hope to win the match was buried with a splendid catch of Sammy by Umaid on his fourth ball of innings' last over when Zalmi needed 12 runs on four balls. He made 30 runs of 20 balls with 2 fours and a six.

A brilliant third wicket partnership of 95 runs between Babar and Imad helped Kings to set a defendable target of 202 runs for the loss of 4 wickts.

According to details, Zalmi's captain Darren Sammy won the toss and invited Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim to bat first. Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan opened the innings for Karachi Kings. Sharjeel, who was banned for 5 years in February 10, 2017 over spot fixing charges in HBL PSL II when he was playing for Islamabad United, returned to the field after suspension of his two and a half years sentence. He made 19 of 11 balls with one boundary and two sixes. He was caught by Shoaib Malik at mid-on at the total score of 25 runs. Hasan Ali took his wicket. Camron Delport has added 20 runs, escalating the scoreboard to 73 runs when he misread Mohsin's googly and was bowled out in 8.4 overs.

Babar played a sensible inning of 78 of 56 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes. He was run out by Banton in 17.5overs.

Later, Kings' captain Imad Wasim elevated his position and came on the crease at number third. He started his tournament with a 29 balls fifty. He was caught at wide long-off in 19th overs.

Zalmi's Hassan conceded 21 runs in last over of the innings when Iftikhar Ahmed of Karachi Kings hit two massive sixes at midwicket fence and straight and pushed Karachi Kings to surpass 200 runs mark and that 21 runs were proved deciders of the match.

This was the fourth 200 plus score made in NSK during HBL PSL. Kamran Akmal and Banton opened the innings for Peshawar Zalmi. The Zalmi's remained unimpressive to provide a strong platform as their three batmen - Banton, Haider and Malik backed to the pavilion at 68 runs in 8.2 overs.

Kamran Akmal showed some resistance and made 43 runs of 26 balls. He made rooms and missed the off stump at Delport when the score reached to 81rums in 10th overs. The Zalmi needed 120 runs in 60 balls when Livingstone and Dawson were on the crease. Both gathered 48 runs when Dawson got a nick and was caught behind the wicket by Rizwan. He made 22 of 16 balls with a six. Crowd were on the seat when Zalmi's captain Darren, who has a huge fans following in Pakistan, came on the crease in 16th overs after falling of Dawson (fifth wickets).
