Activities of Karachi and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 142,790 tonnes of cargo comprising 107,499 tonnes of import cargo and 35,291 tonnes of export cargo including 8,278 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The Karachi Port handled 142,790 tonnes of cargo comprising 107,499 tonnes of import cargo and 35,291 tonnes of export cargo including 8,278 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 107,499 tonnes comprised of 72,447 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,492 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,560 tonnes of petcock and 26,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 35,291 tonnes comprised of 29,686 tonnes of containerised cargo; 270 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,135 tonnes of mill scale and 2,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,278 containers comprising of 4,602 containers of import and 3,676 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,700 of 20's and 1,260 of 40's loaded while 12 of 20's and 185 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 721 of 20's and 432 of 40's loaded containers while 437 of 20's and 827 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely CMA CGM Lamartine, Clemens Schulte, Ocean Wit and Smart Lisa carrying containers, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels Cosco Rotterdam, Coral Star, Kota Gunawan, Clemens Schulte, Sea Elegant, Sky Ploeg, Ocean Drover and Ping An Song carrying containers, tankers, carrier and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are five ships namely Kota Gunawan, MSC Marianna, Sea Elegant, Sunrise and Ping An Song carrying containers, tanker, mogas and general cargo respectively expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are seven vessels viz. Cosco Malaysia, GSL Eleni, JE JU Island, Athenian, MT Karachi, Senanur Cebi and Bao Glory carrying containers, tanker, clinker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while four more vessels viz. MOL Grandeur, BW Amazon, Bao Grand and Amber Beverly carrying containers, mogas, clinker and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 183,488 tonnes comprising of 163,785 tonnes of import cargo and 19,703 tonnes of export cargo including 2,516 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 163,785 tonnes includes 51,770 tonnes of coal; 48,325 tonnes of steel coil; 7,200 tonnes of palm oil; 27,989 tonnes of mogas; 400 tonnes of soyabean and 28,101 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 19,703 tonnes includes 19,703 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,516 containers comprising of 1,479 containers import and 1,037 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely Maersk Jalan and Navig-8 Steeler carrying containers and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely Global Striker, Georgia-M and Limnionas carrying containers, chemical and soyabean respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. Smart Lisa, Tyana, Serene Amelia, African Tern, Kobe Star, St. Petri, Sauger, Sterling, Ocean Flower, Felcon, Chemroute Sun and Asia Liberty carrying steel coil, soyabean, coal, cement, mogas, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. MOL Grandeur, Tiger Winter, Gulf Mist, Tembak and Chemroute Sun carrying containers, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were three ships namely MOL Grandeur, Gulf Mist and Tembak carrying containers, chemical and LNG respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while two more ships namely CMA CGM Al-Maviva and Maersk Bentonville carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
