  • Rumors of suspension of CPEC projects have been raised since coronavirus outbreak, says Chinese Consul General Lahore.
  • The CPEC projects were still on construction during the Chinese Spring Festival.

China has taken stern measures for the prevention of the coronavirus epidemic in Pakistan to ensure the timely completion of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, says the Chinese Consulate General in Lahore, Long Dingbin.

Talking to China Economic Net, the diplomat said that China is making every effort to prevent and control the epidemic. The Consulate General in Lahore said that he has setup designated officials to contact the person in charge of the CPEC projects within the consular area, asking them to coordinate their work in three aspects, including epidemic prevention, security and project promotion.

“We will strictly abide by the regulations on the prevention and control of the epidemic in Pakistan and take effective measures to protect the staff of both sides to ensure that no epidemic occurs at the project site and the project is completed as scheduled,” he said.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic in China, CPEC has become the focus of attention of all parties said, and some rumors of suspension of CPEC projects have been raised, said the Consul general.

He said that the Consulate General in Lahore maintains close communication with the corridor projects in the consular area, especially the “Orange Line” project and Matiari to Lahore ±660kV HVDC Transmission Line Project.

“We learned that these projects still on construction during the Chinese Spring Festival. And this means the reports of CPEC projects were suspended are not true,” he said.
