July-December period: Textile machinery import down 8.34 percent

Import of textile machinery scaled back by 8.34 percent to $231.947 million in Jul-Dec 2019-20, official figures said. Fall in textile machinery now comes to the tune of $21.107 million in Jul-Dec 2019-20 from $253.054 million in Jul-Dec 2018-19, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics indicated.

Pakistan imported 32.07 percent or $17.741 million less textile machinery to $37.573 million in Dec 2019 from $55.314 million in Dec 2018. The country's imports of construction and mining machinery reached $82.175 million in July-Dec 2019-20, which are down by 37 percent or $47.666 million from $129.841 million in July-Dec 2018-19. In Dec 2019, Pakistan's imports of construction and mining machinery stood at $12.352 million comparing to such imports of $9.786 million in Dec 2018, showing an increase of 26.22 percent or $2.566 million.
