The Karachi Port handled 150,542 tonnes of cargo comprising 79,457 tonnes of import cargo and 71,085 tonnes of export cargo including 7,863 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 79,457 tonnes comprised of 65,963 tonnes of containerised cargo and 13,494 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 71,085 tonnes comprised of 54,885 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,900 tonnes of clinker and 1,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 7,863 containers comprising of 3,923 containers of import and 3,940 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,647 of 20's and 1,100 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 37 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,419 of 20's and 935 of 40's loaded containers while 411 of 20's and 120 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Diyala, Rainbow Island, SM Osprey and Apiradee Naree carrying containers, chemical, mogas and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels MSC Messina, Folegandros, MT Karachi, Chem Venus and V Sanderling carrying containers, tanker, chemical and clinker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 218,286 tonnes comprising 191,624 tonnes of import cargo and 26,662 tonnes of export cargo including 3,771 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 191,624 tonnes includes 1,300 tonnes of LPG; 83,455 tonnes of coal; 14,000 tonnes of palm oil; 9,500 tonnes of canola seeds; 27,604 tonnes of gas oil and 55,765 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 26,662 tonnes includes 10,778 tonnes of rice and 15,884 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,771 containers comprising of 2,935 containers import and 836 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were three ships sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning. A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, canola seeds, LPG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Zhe Hai-520, IVS Nauro, Tiger Winter, CSC Cyanete, Atlantica Breeze, MIM St. Jean, Mega, Elim and JBU Opal carrying coal, MEG, mogas, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. MOL Globe, Zhe Hai-520, Atlantica Breeze and Elim carrying containers, coal, mogas and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely MOL Globe carrying containerrs due to arrive on Wednesday There are two ships namely Happy Elena and GSL Manet carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely Smiley Lady carrying containers is due to arrive on Sunday.
