Members of All Pakistan Hajj Joint Action Committee protested outside the Lahore Press Club against the expensive Hajj package by the government.

They expressed strong reservations over the increase in the Hajj expenses to Rs 550,000 per person and demanded distribution of Hajj quota on the basis of equality throughout Pakistan.

They said that the government should follow the model of Umrah quota for the Hajj quota to reduce burden on the national exchequer, curb corruption and a competitive market. It would also lead to availability of cheap Hajj options for Pakistanis, they added. Chairman of the Committee Habib-ur-Rehman spoke to media on the occasion.
