The Karachi Port handled 178,475 tonnes of cargo comprising 93,623 tonnes of import cargo and 84,852 tonnes of export cargo including 9,418 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 93,623 tonnes comprised of 65,881 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,897 tonnes of bulk cargo and 13,845 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 84,852 tonnes comprised of 63,604 tonnes of containerised cargo; 700 tonnes of bulk cargo; 14,450 tonnes of clinker and 6,098 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 9,418 containers comprising of 4,625 containers of import and 4,793 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,401 of 20's and 1,581 of 40's loaded while 32 of 20's and 15 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,519 of 20's and 1,106 of 40's loaded containers while 288 of 20's and 387 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Cosco Pacific, GSL Manet, Mayssan, Roy Maersk, Le Li and Zhen Hua-17 carrying containers, tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Cosco Pacific, AS Paola, KMTC Mumbai, MT Lahore, Glovis Sirius and JY Guardianship carrying containers, tanker, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 116,846 tonnes comprising 109,892 tonnes of import cargo and 6,954 tonnes of export cargo including 3,217 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 109,892 tonnes includes 2,881 tonnes of coal; 18,800 tonnes of palm oil; 22,042 tonnes of gas oil; 12,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid and 54,169 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 6,954 tonnes includes 6,954 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,217 containers comprising of 2,851 containers import and 366 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely Simley Lady and Pine Hurst carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.

A total number of six ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, phosphoric acid, gasoil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Sun Excelsior, Thor Infinity, Lanna Naree, White Purl, Sauger, Victoria, Atlantic Breeze, Dong Hai and Al Taurus carrying soyabean, coal, LPG, mogas, gas oil, gasoline and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. MOL Generosity, Sun Excelsior, Thor Infinity, Lanna Naree and Al Sheennaiya carrying containers, soyabean, coal, rice and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
