The Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal (SW&BM) Punjab in collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) on Thursday organised a one-day orientation session for non-profit organizations (NPOs) to sensitize them about the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force and findings of the state-run-departments regarding terror financing risks.

The event was attended by over 100 functional and leading NPOs. A speaker, Israr Abbasi, presented a detailed presentation on anti-money laundering and terror financing laws as well as the mechanism for implementation of the United Nations sanctions regime under the resolutions 1267 and 1373 for designation of terrorist organization and individuals.

Representative of NACTA and Pakistan Peace Collective (PPC), a project of Minister of Information and Technology, also participated as key speakers of the event. The session was mainly focused on relevant recommendations of the FATF as well as findings of national terror financing risk assessments including directions/channels and sources of terror financing. Speaking as the chief guest, Secretary Social Welfare Zahid Saleem Gondal highlighted the role of NPOs saying that they were playing a vital role in development and uplifting of the communities at grass root level.
