ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Friday said that Pakistan Peoples Party will continue efforts for strengthening democracy in the country.

Talking to a private television channel, he said that all out efforts would be made to promote democracy in the country. He said "We don't want to go to the politics of '80s."

"We respect judiciary from the core of our heart, " he said. He said "We never attacked judiciary and we will never do it in future." Kaira said "Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani always respected the judiciary."

"Opposition and the government play vital role under the democracy," he said. He said "No one is allowed to hurt or abuse any person." Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the former prime minister and founder of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had not been given right of appeal in the courts.

He appreciated the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani for promoting the culture of tolerance in the Parliament. The Minister said, "We have directed all the workers of the PPP to respect judiciary and avoid any derogatory language against the courts."
