Gas crisis in Sindh: CNG stations shut yet again for another 24 hours

SSGC gas supply from different gas fields has been reduced. The gas shortfall has affected not only the supply
Published December 31, 2019
  • SSGC gas supply from different gas fields has been reduced.
  • The gas shortfall has affected not only the supply to domestic consumers but also to the industry and compressed natural gas (CNG) sector for the past several days.

Adding to the pubic woes, the CNG station would remain closed for another 24 hours across Sindh, amid drop in gas pressure.

According to the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), the company’s gas supply from different gas fields has been reduced. “Due to this, it has been decided that all CNG Stations will remain closed for another 24 hours. The management is monitoring the gas pressure," said SSGC.

The company further said that the supply to CNG stations will resume after improvement in gas supply.

The gas shortfall has affected not only the supply to domestic consumers but also to the industry and compressed natural gas (CNG) sector for the past several days. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the government has directed the authorities concerned to ensure gas supply to households even at the cost of the CNG sector.

Supplying gas to Sindh and Balochistan, the SSGC faces a shortfall of 300 MMCFD as the current demand has surged to 1,500 MMCFD.
