The Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation, Inland Revenue, Karachi has kicked off massive campaign against persons involved in taxable activities without getting sales tax registration and payment of due taxes.
Credible information was received that some unregistered persons were involved in conducting textile related activities at two different premises located in Karachi Industrial Area.
Reacting to this information, a team of the Directorate visited two different premises situated at Karachi Industrial Area. They found different textile units at both premises, which were unregistered. The units were found equipped with machineries like looms and embroidery machines and were engaged in huge activities of manufacturing of grey fabrics and embroidery.
Sources said that textile sector has been brought into normal tax regime of sales tax and liable to pay sales tax @ 17 percent through Finance Act, 2019 and all concessions provided under SRO 1125(l)/2011 have been withdrawn through the Finance Act, 2019 from 1st July 2019.
