Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 178,263 tonnes of cargo comprising 106,284 tonnes of import cargo and 71,979 tonnes of export cargo including 12,097 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The Karachi Port handled 178,263 tonnes of cargo comprising 106,284 tonnes of import cargo and 71,979 tonnes of export cargo including 12,097 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 106,284 tonnes comprised of 78,990 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,044 tonnes of bulk cargo and 22,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 71,979 tonnes comprised of 48,141 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,374 tonnes of bulk cargo; 20,164 tonnes of clinkers and 2,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 12,097 containers comprising of 6,403 containers of import and 5,694 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,371 of 20's and 2,066 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 450 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,350 of 20's and 588 of 40's loaded containers while 514 of 20's and 1,327 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Smiley Lady, Ubena, Da De and Panthera J carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels viz. Cosco Belgium and Szczecin Trader carrying containers currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 228,058 tonnes comprising 159,813 tonnes of import cargo and 68,245 tonnes of export cargo including 4,303 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 159,813 tonnes includes 50,310 tonnes of diesel oil; 15,938 tonnes of palm oil; 10,897 tonnes of canola; 49,280 tonnes of coal; 9,106 tonnes of phosphoric acid and 24,282 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 68,245 tonnes includes 10,770 tonnes of cement and 57,475 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,303 containers comprising of 1,278 containers import and 3,025 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were four ships namely MOL Generosity, Maersk Seletar, Adriana Rose and Cypress Galaxy carrying containers, canola and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely MSC Valencia and Leader carrying containers and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola, coal, cement, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as ten vessels viz. Smiley Lady, Da De, Adventurer, Neo, Nilufer Sultan, Lusail, Yusuf Al-Ghanim, Pacific Legend, Hai Sheng and Genuine Venus carrying containers, general cargo, soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven ships viz. CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Smiley Lady, Hugo Schulte, Adventurer, Neo, Nilufer Sultan and Lusail carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were two ships namely CMA CGM Al-Maviva and Hugo Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely APL Thailand carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
