Member Customs (Operations), Dr Jawwad Uwais Agha is said to have issued directives to the chief collector to regularise all provisional licenses of customs clearing agents issued more than five years ago on profile basis.

Talking to Business Recorder Arshad Jamal vice president FPCCI said that they had a meeting with Member Customs (Operations), Dr Jawwad Uwais Agha at Federation House where he issued directives to the chief collector to regularise all provisional licenses of customs clearing agents issued more than five years ago on profile basis if the examination was not held by DGTR.

Arshad said that member customs had also agreed to forward proposal of increasing Electronic Import Form (EIF) limit from US$500 to US$2000 to ensure immediate clearance of goods at airports.

Furthermore, he said that the issue related to the amendment in WeBOC was also discussed as taxpayers were unable to pay duty & taxes through P D in case of penalty imposed under section-79 for late payment, facing delays in clearance of goods.

He said that they also requested the member customs to reduce the maximum fine for late filing on small parcels to Rs1000 at ports and airports; adding that member customs also directed the chief collector to take immediate measures in order to resolve the issues. When contacted member customs in this regard, he was not available on phone for comments.
