Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 76,576 tonnes of cargo comprising 47,218 tonnes of import cargo and 29,358 tonnes of export cargo including 3,594 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The Karachi Port handled 76,576 tonnes of cargo comprising 47,218 tonnes of import cargo and 29,358 tonnes of export cargo including 3,594 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 47,218 tonnes comprised of 22,089 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,329 tonnes of bulk cargo and 23,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 29,358 tonnes comprised of 29,128 tonnes of containerised cargo; 230 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,594 containers comprising of 1,814 containers of import and 1,780 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 389 of 20's and 351 of 40's loaded while 233 of 20's and 245 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 497 of 20's and 277 of 40's loaded containers while 271 of 20's and 229 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely MOL Grandeur, Northern Dedication, Sea Power, African Halcyon and Glovis Sigma carrying containers, oil tanker, seeds and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Kota Gunawan, Beijing Bridge, Diyala, Ubena, Al Safa and Glovis Sigma carrying containers, oil tanker and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 135,158 tonnes comprising 111,541 tonnes of import cargo and 23,617 tonnes of export cargo including 1,299 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 111,541 tonnes includes 41,666 tonnes of LNG; 531 tonnes of LPG; 13,500 tonnes of palm oil; 12,000 tonnes of canola; 25,180 tonnes of coal; 15,300 tonnes of mogas; 531 tonnes of chemical and 1,064 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 23,617 tonnes includes 23,617 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,299 containers comprising of 56 containers import and 1,243 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There was one ship namely Jeppesen Maersk carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while four more ships namely Rowayton Eagle, Gas Amazon, Nordic Tristan and SC Neptune carrying coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola, coal, cement, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Asia Ruby-1, Adventurer, Milha Qattar, Yusuf Al-Ghanim, Leader, Hai Sheng, Tiger Integrity, Argent Bloom and CT Confedence carrying coal, soyabean, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Conti Champion, Thor Independence, Asia Ruby-1, Milha Qattar and Argent Bloom carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.

There were two ships namely Conti Champion and Thor Independence carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Monday. There are two ships namely MSC Valencia and Maersk Seletar carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
