Activities at Karachi and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 158,716 tonnes of cargo comprising 106,804 tonnes of import cargo and 51,912 tonnes of export cargo including 8,740 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The Karachi Port handled 158,716 tonnes of cargo comprising 106,804 tonnes of import cargo and 51,912 tonnes of export cargo including 8,740 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 106,804 tonnes comprised of 66,156 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,103 tonnes of bulk cargo; 8,284 tonnes of DPA; 3,993 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 26,268 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 51,912 tonnes comprised of 21,951 tonnes of containerised cargo; 820 tonnes of bulk cargo; 29,141 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,740 containers comprising of 5,597 containers of import and 3,143 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 727 of 20's and 2,005 of 40's loaded while 368 of 20's and 246 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 553 of 20's and 261 of 40's loaded containers while 18 of 20's and 1,025 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Dolphin-II, Kota Karim, Cape Male and Hankuk Cheme carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels viz. Cosco Japan, Cosco Hong Kong, Ningbo Express, Coral Star, Altonia, Kota Karim, Orient Pluto and EM Sapphire carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 152,381 tonnes comprising 138,131 tonnes of import cargo and 14,250 tonnes of export cargo including 1,070 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 138,131 tonnes includes 33,333 tonnes of LNG; 2,182 tonnes of palm kernel; 7,444 tonnes of soyabean; 57,076 tonnes of coal; 32,016 tonnes of mogas and 6,080 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 14,250 tonnes includes 14,250 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,070 containers comprising of 320 containers import and 750 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There are two ships namely MSC Busan and Jan Oldendroff carrying containers and coal respectively expected to sail on Tuesday afternoon.

A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, palm kernel and mogas respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as ten vessels viz. APL New York, Seagulf, Qifu, Jia Yuf, IVS Hirona, Atlantigr, Adventurer, Adriana Rose, Nordic Adristan and Al-Salam carrying containers, coal,soyabean, canola and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. APL New York, Maersk Kinloss and Atlantigr carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There was one ship namely Maersk Kinloss carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
