Federal minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said that in three years Pakistan would become the first country to manufacture battery buses, which will driven by an electric motor and obtains energy from on-board batteries.

In a series of tweets, the federal minister further said that Pakistan would develop solar panels and lithium batteries, which would change the entire energy system in the country.

“We couldn't build an engine that was a failure, but over the next three years we will build solar panels and lithium batteries. The entire energy system will change. Similarly, the Jhelum Biotech Park would become South Asia's largest herbal medicine park,” said Chaudhry in a tweet.

“We will also be the first country in South Asia to manufacture battery buses,” he added.

The minister further said that the current government would bring Pakistan back into the map of research and technology, adding that the budget for science and technology would increase a thousand fold next year.

“This year, the science and technology budget has increased by over six hundred times. With the full support of the Prime Minister, we will bring Pakistan back to research and technology….. After China, the ministries are being set up in Russia. Now the focus is on the European Union and the United States,” he added.
