State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Raza Baqir Wednesday held a meeting with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and exchanged views on the overall economic situation.

According to media office of the foreign minister, the SBP governor gave a detailed briefing to the foreign minister on the current exchange rate and other economic indicators.

Talking to the SBP governor, Foreign Minister Qureshi said that the government has adopted economic diplomacy to attract the world attention towards the available opportunity for investment and the all the available facilities to the foreign companies.

"Positive results of the economic diplomacy are coming constantly and the international rating agencies are coming up with good news about Pakistan's economy," Qureshi maintained.

The foreign minister also chaired a meeting of the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs which was attended by Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood, former diplomats and experts on international affairs to take stock of the regional and international issues.

The meeting also discussed the situation in the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, besides the efforts for economic as well as cultural diplomacy.

Qureshi told the meeting that after receiving positive results of the economic diplomacy, the government has now launched the cultural diplomacy while referring to the recent opening of the Kartarpur Corridor.

The members of the council appreciated Pakistan's Kartarpur Corridor initiative and also stated that due to the positive gesture, the entire world and the Sikh community are lauding Pakistan's initiative.

Qureshi also apprised the council of his recent letters written to UN secretary-general and president of the Security Council in which he has referred to the ongoing worst human rights situations in the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir under the 107 days long lockdown and strict restrictions.

The council also held consultations on further intensifying the diplomatic efforts with international community to sensitize the world about the continued brutalities by Indian government against the Kashmiri people.
