Raising serious objections, the National Assembly Standing committee on Interior on Thursday said that undeserving people are getting Sehat Insaf Cards.

The parliamentary panel met under the chairmanship of Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, MNA, here at National Data Base Registration Authority (NADRA) headquarters on Thursday.

The NDARA updated the committee about its working relating to Sehat Insaf Cards. The NADRA is providing IT help in issuance of the cards by processing data obtained from the BISP and providing it to State Life for further action.

The committee raised the objection that undeserving people are getting Sehat Cards. The panel raised question about criteria for issuance of Sehat Insaf Cards, as it has been observed that well-off citizens were also issued Sehat Insaf Cards.

The committee decided to invite Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety Division and health department for detailed discussion on the issue.

The bill titled "the Pakistan Penal Code (Amendment) Bill (Section 3), 2019" was passed by the committee. The Bill titled "the National Counter Terrorism Authority (Amendment) Bill 2019" was discussed and deferred till next meeting. The Senate Standing committee has approved 'The National Counter Terrorism Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2019' to make an effective coordination and contribution by all major stakeholders.

According to objectives and reasons of 'The National Counter Terrorism Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2019,' there is a need to make an effective coordination and contribution by all the major stakeholders including Ministry of Interior and the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA). For the purpose some amendments are necessary to be incorporated in NACTA Act 2013 to make it more efficient and effective organization.

Remaining bills on the agenda were deferred till next meeting due to the absence of the movers.

The committee recommended that NADRA may establish registration center at Ibraheem Haidri, Karachi, for facilitation of the population specially fishermen community. Issues faced by public in correction of minor errors in CINCs was discussed, the committee desired to simplify the process involved in the rectification. The committee directed to increase the number of registration centers for better facilitation of public.

Members/MNAs/Movers Sher Akbar Khan, Mehar Ghulam Muhammad Lali, Malik Karamat Ali Khokhar, Sardar Talib Hassan Nakai, Syed Iftikhar Ul Hassan, Syed Agha Rafiullh, Nawab Muhammad Yousuf Talpur, Abdul Qadir Patel, Mehboob Shah and the senior officers from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Law and Justice, NADRA and ICT attended the meeting.
