The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) of Port Muhammad Bin Qasim (PMBQ), Karachi, has surpassed its total revenue target for the month of October 2019.

The total collection for October 2019 stood at Rs 55.531 billion against the monthly target of Rs 52.629 billion, which is 5.23 percent higher than the assigned target and 29.61 percent higher than Rs 42.843 billion collection of October 2018.

The Customs Duty Collection in October 2019 registered an increase of 22.47 percent, amounting to Rs 17.596 billion as compared to the collection of Rs 14.368 billion in October 2018.

Similarly, in the same period Sales Tax collection increased from Rs 23.032 billion to Rs 32.142 billion, Federal Excise Duty from Rs 389.02 million to Rs 545.546 million and Income Tax collection from Rs 5.053 billion to Rs 5.247 billion.

Collector MCC Port Qasim, Mumtaz Ali Khoso has attributed this impressive revenue performance of the Collectorate, despite a steep decline in imports, to enhanced trade facilitation measures taken at the time of clearance of import goods and efficient managerial controls.

He especially lauded the leadership role of Syed Muhammad Shabbar Zaidi, Chairman FBR, Dr Jawwad Uwais Agha, Member (Customs-Operations) and Suraiya Ahmed Butt, Chief Collector (Appraisement-South), Karachi. He also lauded the efforts of his team of officers and staff in achieving the revenue target and expressed the resolve to achieve the remaining revenue target for the current financial year.
