The Karachi Port handled 294,155 tonnes of cargo comprising 221,888 tonnes of import cargo and 72,267 tonnes of export cargo including 2,582 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 221,888 tonnes comprised of 58,856 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,930 tonnes of bulk cargo; 48,673 tonnes of DPA and 96,429 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 72,267 tonnes comprised of 50,577 tonnes of containerised cargo and 21,690 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 2,582 containers comprising of 1,203 containers import and 1,379 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 251 of 20's and 357 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 118 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 420 of 20's and 265 of 40's loaded containers while 259 of 20's and 85 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were nine ships namely Cosco Japan, Cosco Hong Kong, Hyundai Tokyo, Northern Discovery, Al Safa, MT Shalamar, Union Explorer, JPS Barcelona and Industrial Destiny carrying containers, oil tankers, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. Hyundai Tokyo, MP The Belichick, Cape Male, Ubena, Ocean Globe, Union Explorer and Erlyne carrying containers, oil tanker, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 149,599 tonnes comprising 97,159 tonnes of import cargo and 52,440 tonnes of export cargo including 2,890 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 97,159 tonnes includes 32,323 tonnes of coal; 4,406 tonnes of palm oil; 29,583 tonnes of LNG; 2,377 tonnes of LPG; 26,000 tonnes of mogas and 2,470 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 52,440 tonnes includes 52,440 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,890 containers comprising of 130 containers import and 2,760 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were four ships namely El- Eoussa, Al-Simaisma, Gas Amazon and Ardmore Explorer carrying coal, LNG, LPG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely Cosco Japan, Happy Helena and Sloane Square carrying containers and mogas respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, LNG, LPG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as four vessels viz. Venture Goal, Al- Salam-II, NCC Qasim and Asia Liberty carrying coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. Venture Goal, Al- Salam-II and NCC Qasim carrying coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There are three ships namely MSC Nova, SM Charleston and Maersk Detroit carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
