Sindh High Court (SHC) Thursday directed Chief Secretary to coordinate with Chief Minister to resolve the heavy traffic issue in the metropolis. A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar also asked Sindh Chief Minister to work out the mechanism for resolution of civic issues including heavy traffic in the city.

Court issued these directions while hearing the petition pertaining to entry of heavy traffic in Karachi. Bench head also inquired from Chief Secretary about the inaction to resolve the disputes especially related to release of funds to Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC).

"KMC complains about scarcity of funds," court said and observed this would not help in resolving the issues. Court asked Chief Secretary to communicate to Chief Minister to show seriousness for tackling the issues. Bench head while addressing Chief Secretary said that court took up the anti-rabies vaccine issue and during the hearing, local government departments complained that they lack the vaccines as well as shortage of funds. "Ask Chief Minister to work out the mechanism for resolving these issues," court ordered Chief Secretary.

Chief Secretary told the court that provincial government is making serious efforts to resolve heavy traffic issue and assured the court that he would personally bring these issues into the knowledge of Chief Minister.

Justice Mazhar observed that these issues are related to public welfare and should be considered at priority. Chief Secretary said that 100 acres land at Northern Bypass would be handed over to KMC for developing terminal when KMC attorney told the court that Board of Revenue (BoR) didn't transfer the land to it for terminal. Court directed Chief Secretary to submit the report in the next hearing of the case.
