  • India thrashed South Africa by an innings and 137 runs in the second Test on Sunday.
  • Raja praised Mohammad Shami for bowling exceptionally on dead pitches.

Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has termed the Indian bowling attack as the best in the world, after Virat Kohli’s men clinched a record 11th-straight series triumph at home against South Africa on Sunday.

“I believe that one only wins in Test cricket, if they are capable of taking 20 wickets and India got the best bowling attack in the world. Because they have covered all bases in spin, pace, behind the wicket, exceptional fielding and solid captaincy,” said the cricketer-turned-commentator in a video.

The praise comes after Umesh Yadav led an inspired bowling display as India thrashed South Africa by an innings and 137 runs in the second Test on Sunday.

The tourists were dismissed for 189 after following-on in the final session of day four in Pune, as India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Earlier, the Proteas were dismissed for 275 at the end of day three in response to India's 601-5 declared, 127 short of the follow-on.

Raja applauded the Indian bowling line especially fast bowler Mohammad Shami, for his potent bowling on dead pitches as South African bowlers failed to make a mark on the other end.“Credit should be given to Mohammad Shami who took wickets on a dead wicket, and South Africa should learn from him the line and length that works in Asian conditions,” he said.

The win also consolidated India's number-one position in the world Test championship with 200 points. Skipper Virat Kohli set up the win with his unbeaten 254 – a record seventh double-century for the star batsman overtaking the legendary Don Bradman.
