Australian legend advises Pakistan for the tour Down Under

Patience and unity key for Pakistan against Australia, says Boon. Return of international cricket to Pakistan

  • Patience and unity key for Pakistan against Australia, says Boon.
  • Return of international cricket to Pakistan would benefit cricket.

Former Australian batting legend David Boon has divulged some secrets as how Pakistan can overcome the mighty Aussies when they tour Down Under later this year for the World Test Championship fixtures.

“In Australia we are a little bit different, the grounds are a lot bigger the guys have to adapt to that the pitches are different… but I think the biggest one [difference] the guys have to come to grip with is the bounce and pace, which are very obviously quicker and bouncier than the subcontinent pitches,” said David Boon while talking to PCB.

The batsman turned match referee further said that patience and unity would be the key for Pakistan against Australia. “It’s important for them to be patient, but also have the confidence to play and just adapt to those things… You’ve got to be together and if that breaks down I’m not sure you’ve got a lot of chance,” he added.

Boon who is in Pakistan these days, serving as the match referee for the ongoing Pakistan, Sri Lanka series, expressed delight in visiting Pakistan, saying that the return of international cricket to Pakistan is beneficial for the game.

“It’s good to be back… Bringing back cricket to Pakistan is only good for the game, and it’s great for the people of Pakistan who follow cricket, and even more importantly for the young kids to be able to see their players and players from other countries actually playing the game here,” he said.

Pakistan is scheduled to tour Australia in November for 3 T20Is and two Test matches.
