Actor Matthew McConaughey will now take a new role as a professor at University of Texas. He has been hired to join the faculty of Department of Radio-Television-Film and Twitter has gone berserk over the news. His fans now wish to get enrolled in the university.

McConaughey has been a visiting instructor at the campus since 2015 and the university said in a statement Wednesday that the appointment recognizes his outstanding work as a teacher and mentor. The university says McConaughey is respected for his “willingness to work with students beyond the classroom,” The Guardian reported.

McConaughey and faculty member and director Scott Rice have been co-teaching the ‘Script to Screen film production’ class, but now the actor's name is solely on the syllabus.

According to a press release issued by the university, McConaughey, who earned a film degree from UT in 1993, said this class was the one he wished he’d had during film school. “Working in the classroom with these students gives me a chance to prepare them,” he said.

“Making movies, turning words on paper into film, is both a science and art ? no matter the time or generation. The elements of truth and genuine joy for the process are timeless. That will always be our classroom focus,” he added.
