Ex-captain gives Pakistan 50-50 chance at World Cup 2019

Pakistan former captain-turned cricket commentator Ramiz Raja has given his side a 50-50 chance in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.

“It is very difficult to predict how Pakistan will perform in the World Cup, but before the tournament they have a 50-50 chance,” said Raja, at Ramiz Speaks.

Talking about head to head encounters, Raja stated that Pakistan would need to show good performance against all sides, as the upcoming tournament would be a round-robin format just like its 1992 predecessor.

“It is a must for the Pakistan cricket team to win against sides ranked lowered then them i.e. Afghanistan, West Indies and Bangladesh, and  would need to win one or two matches against the top five, because one would only make into the semifinals after winning six or seven games,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket team is present in England and is set to play five-match ODI series against England from May 5. The squad will then kick off two warm-up World Cup games against Afghanistan on May 24 and Bangladesh on May 26, before taking on the West Indies in their first World Cup match in Nottingham on May 31.
