francePARIS: French industrial production rose 0.3 percent in January after suffering a 1.3-percent drop in December, the INSEE statistics institute said on Friday.

Manufacturing production, excluding mining and construction, grew 0.2 percent in January.

During the period, production rose in the computer industry by 6.1 percent and by 3.2 percent in the machinery industry.

Production fell in repair work, down 2.2 percent, rubber and plastics, down 0.3 percent, and lumber, paper and printing, down 0.4 percent.
