Underwater photography is not a new thing, but is difficult for mobile users since it requires specifics and the phones are not able to take proper pictures underwater for much long. Apple is reportedly looking forward to help users with that by enhancing its camera for such photography.

According to recent patents filed by Apple, future Apple phones, probably the 2019 iPhone 11, could have AI systems that can automatically detect when a picture is taken underwater and optimize the pictures captured, initially reported by Apple Insider.

Apple’s next iPhones will feature display that works perfectly underwater

As the device detects when the user is underwater, different sensors are employed to determine what needs to be changed in an image. The AI systems will then measure factors such as amount of ambient light, murkiness of surroundings and distance to subject, so that it can then subtly alter the picture to make it look as great as possible.

The idea is still in patent form and cannot be taken as a surety that Apple will enhance its future iPhone cameras. There have been rumors earlier that Apple’s next iPhones will feature a display that will work perfectly fine when submerged totally underwater.
