Head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq Monday announced 20 probable for the training camp, to prepare the side for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka, which will be staged from 27th September to 9th October.
The training camp will get underway here at the National Cricket Academy from Wednesday (September 18), a PCB spokesman, said.
Misbah-ul-Haq will announce the two squads for ODI and T20 series. The ODI side will move to Karachi on 24th September, where the first ODI will be played on 27th September. The three T20s will be played here at Gaddafi Stadium.
All-rounders Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik have not been named in the probable as they have been granted NOC until 12th October to participate in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The probable are: Sarfaraz Ahmed (captain), Babar Azam (vice-captain), Abid Ali, Ahmed Shehzad, Asif Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Sohail Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Umar Akmal, Usman Shinwari and Wahab Riaz.
The PCB has appointed team management for the Sri Lanka and Australia series, which is comprised of Misbah-ul-Haq (Head Coach and Chief Selector); Mansoor Rana (Team Operations, Logistics & Administrative Manager), Waqar Younis (Bowling Coach), Grant Bradburn (Fielding Coach), Shahid Aslam (Assistant to Head coach on cricket), Cliffe Deacon (Physiotherapist), Yasir Malik (Trainer), Maj (retd) Azhar Arif (Security Manager - for Sri Lanka series), Col (retd) Usman Anwari (Security Manager - for Australia tour), Raza Kitchlew (Team Media Manager), Talha Butt (Team Analyst) and Malang Ali (Masseur).
Moreover, cricket legend Javed Miandad said that Pak-Sri Lanka series will help Pakistan make a good start to their international cricket calendar which also includes series against Australia and Bangladesh. He said playing Sri Lanka at home will give Pakistani players confidence. "It does not matter which Sri Lankan players visit and Pakistan must only look to put up their best performances regardless of the visitors' squad quality," Miandad said, adding: "International matches should be the top priority for the players."
