Prices of essential kitchen items especially cooking oil/ghee, tea, milk, egg, chilli powder, sugar and salt have witnessed an increase during this week past as compared to previous week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday.
The survey observed that the ghee/cooking oil prices have further increased as good quality cooking oil/ghee price went up from Rs 1,050 to Rs 1,125 per 5 litres/kg and price of normal quality cooking oil/ghee like Phool went up from Rs 140 to Rs 160 per litre/kg.
Sugar price went up from Rs 3,450 per 50kg bag to Rs 3,520 per 50kg bag, Lipton Yellow Label tea from Rs 900 per kg pack to Rs 920 per kg pack, powdered milk Nido and Everyday prices jumped up from Rs 770 per kg pack to Rs 870 per kg pack and price of Nestle Bunyad went up from Rs 590 per kg pack to Rs 670 per kg pack.
Prices of detergents including Ariel, Brite and Surf Excel increased from Rs 300 per kg pack to Rs 310 per kg pack, and Dettol liquid price went up from Rs 80 per family pack to Rs 160 per family pack. Raw salt price has increased from Rs 200 per 40 kg to Rs 400 per 40 kg bag, while refined iodized salt price has increased from Rs 25 per packet to Rs 30 per packet.
Fresh milk and yogurt prices have also increased as fresh milk is available at Rs 120 per litre against Rs 110 per litre and yogurt price jumped from Rs 130 per kg to Rs 140 per kg.
Prices of entire range of packed juices witnessed an increase as Nestle juice price went up from Rs 150 per litre to Rs 180 per litre pack. Prices of packed milk including Olper, Milk Pack and others also went up as Olper was available at Rs 830 per carton against Rs 740 per carton and Dairy Omang at Rs 560 per carton against Rs 510 per carton.
However during the week under review, wheat flour price witnessed a slight reduction of Rs 10 per 20 kg bag as it reduced from Rs 900 per 20 kg bag to Rs 890 per 20 kg bag.
Egg price went up from Rs 90 per dozen to Rs 92 per dozen which in retail marker were being sold at Rs 105 per dozen against Rs 96-100 per dozen, chicken price remained unchanged at Rs 5,800 per 40kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 160 per kg while chicken meat was being sold at Rs 240 per kg.
Onion price went up from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 60-65 per kg against Rs 55-60 per kg in retail market, tomatoes price went up from Rs 140 to Rs 250 per 5kg which were being sold at Rs 75 against Rs 40 per kg and potatoes' price remained stable at Rs 150 per 5kg which were being sold at Rs 45 per kg.
Local garlic price went up from Rs 900 to Rs 1,000 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 300 per kg against Rs 290 per kg and ginger price remained stable at Rs 1,250 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 320 per kg. Lemon price went up from Rs 500 per 5kg to Rs 600 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 150 per kg against Rs 120-130 per kg.
Bean price went up from Rs 350 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 95-100 per kg against Rs 85 per kg, tinda price remained stable at Rs 325 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 80-85 per kg, peas price went up from Rs 475 per 5kg to Rs 550 which were being sold at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 125 per kg; and brinjal price went up from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 85-90 per kg against Rs 55 per kg. Turnip price went up from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 280 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 75-80 per kg against Rs 60 per kg, yam price remained stable at Rs 350 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 85 per kg.
Capsicum price went down from Rs 280 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 65 per kg against Rs 75 per kg in retail market; cucumber price remained stable at Rs 120 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 40 per kg; cauliflower price remained stable at Rs 225 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 60 per kg in retail market; and cabbage price remained stable at Rs 130 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 40 per kg in the retail market.
Pumpkin price remained stable at Rs 300 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 80 per kg in the retail market; okra price went down from Rs 230 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 55-60 per kg; and kareela price went up from Rs 250 to Rs 300 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 75 per kg against Rs 60 per kg in the retail market.
No changes were witnesses in the prices of pulses as fine quality white lentil (Maash) was available at Rs 200 per kg while its normal quality was being sold at Rs 160-170 per kg; good quality grams at Rs 200 per kg and normal quality grams at Rs 160 per kg; kidney bean (Lobia) was available in the range of Rs 130-170 per kg; green gram (Moong) at Rs 155 against Rs 140 per kg; and red lentil (Masoor) was available at Rs 160 per kg.
Fruit prices during the week under review witnessed an increasing trend as Gaja apple was available at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 100 per kg, Iranian Kala Kolo apple at Rs 220 per kg against Rs 200 per kg, and good quality local banana was being sold at Rs 100 per dozen against Rs 60 per dozen while normal quality banana was being sold in the range of Rs Rs 60-70 per dozen against 40-50 per dozen.
