Prime Min-ister Imran Khan on Sunday took notice of State Minister Zartaj Gul's letter written to National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) to get her sister appointed as director at the country's top counterterrorism body and directed her to withdraw the letter after it created a debate on social media about govt's integrity.
Describing it an act against the ethics of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) which has always opposed nepotism, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Naeem-ul-Haq tweeted that prime minister had directed Zartaj Gul to withdraw the letter written to NACTA.
"The PM has directed that Zartaj Gul shud withdraw her letter written to NACTA regarding the appointment of her sister. This was against the ethics of PTI which has always opposed nepotism. No one in the PTI govt [government] is can promote their relatives/ friends by using their positions", Haq said in a tweet.
Following the written request of State Minister Zartaj Gul, the interior ministry has reportedly appointed Gul's sister Shabnam Gul as Director (BS-19) in NACTA on May 22. Shabnam was serving as an assistant professor at Lahore College for Women in Grade-18.
Earlier, social media strongly reacted to the reports of Zartaj Gul's appointment on the letter written to Interior Secretary by the Minister of State on Climate Change as users described this act of nepotism and favouritism in a government which claims of transparency and merit to be its principles.
