Prices of essential kitchen items, except vegetable, chicken meat, sugar, flour, etc have slightly dropped in the retail market, according to the survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday. A downward trend in prices of vegetable, pulses, dates and others were witnessed in local market, it was noticed. However, the price of live chicken/meat has increased in retail market as available at Rs 175 per kg which was selling at Rs 170 per kg in the previous week. A dozen of farm eggs are being sold at Rs 80 and Rs 90.
Gram flour (baisen) is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against the price of Rs 140 per kg in the previous week. Dates are being available at Rs 160 and Rs 200 per kg which was available at Rs 250 per kg and Rs 300 per kg in last week. However, the prices of different brands of beverages have remained unchanged in local market. Sugar is being sold at Rs 70 and Rs 72 per kg.
According to the survey, the prices of pulses/food grains have remained high-side in retail market, as no significant change or decrease was witnessed in the previous week. Good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs 150 per kg and Rs 140 per kg, while toota rice priced at Rs 80 per kg. Big size white channa is being sold at Rs 140 and Rs 120 per kg.
Dal mash is available at Rs 140 per kg, dal masoor at Rs 100 per kg and Rs 90 per kg, the survey noticed, and added that dhoti dal priced at Rs 130 per kg, red bean is being sold at Rs 140 and Rs 180 per kg which was selling at Rs 120 and Rs 160 per kg respectively. Moonge is being sold at Rs 150 per kg.
The survey further said that white lobiya is being sold at Rs 120 per kg which was selling at Rs 110 per kg. Dal chilka (black) was available at Rs 140 per kg while dal chilka (green) priced at Rs 130 per kg. Dal channa is being sold at Rs 120 per kg. According to the survey, the prices of cooking oil/ghee of different brands and quality were remained unchanged in the retail market as available within range of Rs 170, Rs 180 and Rs 200 per litre/kg.
Fresh milk is being sold at Rs 110 per litre against the official fixed price of Rs 100 per litre, while yougurt available at Rs 120 per kg against the official fixed rate of Rs 90 per kg. Water melon is being sold at Rs 60 per kg, melon is being sold at Rs 30 per kg against the price of Rs 50 per kg in the previous week. Green coloured apple is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against the price of Rs 100 per kg in the previous week, while red-coloured apples are being available at Rs 150 and Rs 200 per kg in local market. Peach is being sold at Rs 150 per kg.
Tomatoes are being sold at Rs 50 per kg which was selling at Rs 30 while same quality tomato was available at Rs 30 per kg at pushcart. Similarly, one-kg onion is being sold at Rs 50 per kg while pushcart vendor charged Rs 30 per kg. Likewise, vendor is being charged Rs 60 and Rs 70 per kg while same quality potato is available at Rs 40 per kg pushcart.
There was also visible different in prices of ginger as vendor charged Rs 280 and Rs 300 per kg, while ginger available at Rs 200 and Rs 240 per kg at pushcart. Chinese garlic is available at Rs 150 per kg while other at Rs 120 and Rs 100 per kg. Rs 20 per kg decrease was witnessed in price of lemon in local market as available at Rs 380 per kg which was selling at Rs 400 per kg in the last week. Cucumber is being sold at Rs 20 per kg. Green chili priced at Rs 150 per kg.
