The Planning Commission agreed to grant six months' extension to projects of National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and Basic Education Community Schools (BECS) subject to approval by the Cabinet. This was agreed upon during a meeting here in Islamabad on Thursday between Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar and Federal Minister for Federal Education & Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood after the latter called on the former. Senior officials from both ministries were also present in the meeting, says a press release issued here.
Khusro Bakhtyar said that the Planning Commission is ready to grant extension to both the projects for another six months after the Cabinet's approval. He stated that the Ministry of Education should submit revised PC-1 to initiate the process of approval. He was of the view that teachers of two programs should work hard to impart quality education to students. He assured that if teachers will work hard and show results then there will be no lay-offs in both programs. -PR
