The Karachi Port handled 168,951 tonnes of cargo comprising 94,246 tonnes of import cargo and 74,705 tonnes of export cargo including 6,788 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 94,246 tonnes comprised of 51,930 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,645 tonnes of bulk cargo and 37,671 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 74,705 tonnes comprised of 41,865 tonnes of containerised cargo; 646 tonnes of bulk cargo; 31,994 tonnes of clinker and 200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,788 containers comprising of 3,482 containers import and 3,306 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,272 of 20's and 1,084 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 20 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,059 of 20's and 664 of 40's loaded containers while 581 of 20's and 169 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Botany Bay, APL Minnesota and MT Shalamar carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Clemens Schulte, YM Bamboo, AS Aries, MT Al-Salam-II and Stolt Alm carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 150,192 tonnes comprising 143,314 tonnes of import cargo and 6,878 tonnes of export cargo including 2,018 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 143,314 tonnes includes 31,850 tonnes of LNG; 11,500 tonnes of palm oil; 66,500 tonnes of coal; 2,000 tonnes of chemical and 31,464 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 6,878 tonnes includes 6,878 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,018 containers comprising of 1,656 containers import and 362 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MT Al Sahla carrying LNG sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while four more ships namely MV Triton Swan, MV Sirrus Sky, MV Beat Rice and MT Maritime Royal carrying coal, chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen vessels viz. CV MOL Generosity, MV Gao Yu, MV Orange Harmony, MV Hong Yuang, MV Ikan Pulass, MV Equinox Agnadoussa, MV Pintail, MV Heroic Striker, MV Star Aquarius, MT Gas Amazon, MT Pike, MT New Challenge, MT Challange Phonic and Ardmore Explorer respectively carrying Containers, bitumen, soyabean, coal, LPG, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV MOL Generosity, MV Gao Yu and MT Ardmore Explorer carrying containers, bitumen and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are two ships namely CV OOCL Washington and CV Hugo Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
