Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Amir Sultan Cheema has been elected Member of National Assembly (MNA) from Sargodha constituency NA-91 constituency after re-polling held on Saturday. Aaj News reported that Cheema secured around 12000 votes as against the PML-N's candidate Zulqarnain Bhatti who got 3134 votes, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results. In the general election, PML-N had won the seat from NA-91 but itwas challenged by the PTI. Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had ordered re-polling at 20 polling stations in the constituency after finding evidence of tampering with ballot papers.
Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain took to Twitter to congratulate the newly-elected MNA from his party. He said results showed public trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Over 25000 people were eligible to cast votes for which the election commission has set up 65 polling booths. Foolproof security arrangements were made for smooth polling process . The results on these polling stations had been declared void by the Election Commission of Pakistan due to recovery of tampered ballot papers.
