Series whitewash: Sarfraz says team failed to ‘capitalize’ with the bat

South Africa has whitewashed Pakistan 3-0, after Proteas ended Pakistan’s resistance with a 107-run win on the fourth day of the third and final Test at the Wanderers Stadium on Monday.

Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed ruled that the team was unable to capitalize after overpowering the opponent on the first day. “We were in a very nice situation after the first day, but we just didn't capitalize with the bat. Their bowlers bowled really well,” said Sarfraz at the post match conference.

The series was a nightmare for Pakistan, especially for its batting which crumbled regularly during the series. However, this did not hamper him from achieving personal records. Talking about it, the skipper said, “The record number of dismissals I have is all because of my hard work and the work the coaches have put in on me,” he said.

Sarfraz set a new wicket-keeping record during the third day of the final Test match against South Africa on Sunday. The skipper took 10 catches in the on-going Test match and surpassed Australia’s Adam Gilchrist and former Indian captain, MS Dhoni, to become the only wicket-keeper captain to reach this feat.

The captain went on to praise batsmen Shan Masood and Babar Azam, who were one of the few glimmering hopes in the otherwise mediocre Pakistan’s batting line.
