Pakistan People's Party (PPP) MPA Ziaullah Afridi has accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of misappropriating at least Rs 36 billion during 2016-17 and demanded of National Accountability Bureau to recover the huge amount from the chief minister Pervez Khattak. Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday Ziaullah Afridi referred to a report allegedly issued by the auditor general of Pakistan which stated that an audit report of 111 departments out of the 1352 attached departments some Rs 36 billions had been embezzled.
He said that the audit was conducted of only 111 departments of the total 1352 departments which meant that the corruption was massive but the provincial government had avoided giving details to the auditor general of Pakistan.
The PPP lawmaker said that if such huge funds were embezzled in only 111 departments then what would be position of the rest of departments. He said it was duty of the NAB to start probe into the corruption reports and arrest the chief minister Pervez Khattak, his ministers and other relevant people to recover the national wealth.
The MPA said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leadership was always beating the drum of transparency, honesty, anti-corruption and merit but the report proved that Imran Khan had badly failed to materialize his tall claims about elimination of corruption.
The NAB should conduct inquiries into the cases pertaining to land lease in Malam Jabba, Bank of Khyber, billion tree Tsunami, Insaf health cards and other various schemes in education and health sectors to unveil the real face of those claiming transparency.
Besides, he also objected to the contracts of various developmental works, saying that the CM had obliged only his nears and dears by awarding them contracts in sheer violation of merit but no one was there to arrest him.
