PTI's agenda

Published May 22, 2018 Updated May 22, 2018 12:00am

How ironic it is that the ruling PML-N has decided to respond to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) 100-day plan that the latter unveiled on Saturday to outline what the Imran Khan-led party would endeavour to achieve in its initial first three months if voted to power in the upcoming general elections. Announcing and unveiling manifesto is the right of every party that is contesting the general election. Then why the government had to come up with a knee-jerk reaction? It too has a right to pledge to nation that what it will be doing in its 'next five-year tenure' if voted to power. Criticizing a political party, which happens to be PTI in this case, for presenting its plan is something which will never improve a beleaguered PML-N's electoral prospects. It is therefore heartening to note that transformation of governance, strengthening the federation, revitalizing economic growth, revolutionizing social services, ensuring country's national security and uplift of agriculture sector are listed as six prioritized sectors the Imran Khan-led PTI government would focus in first 100 days in power. PTI has also pledged that its government would be creating no less than 10 million new job opportunities. It appears to be a highly ambitious plan. The Imran-led party, however, needs to work harder to win the general elections, anyway.
