Provincial leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party and Peoples Doctors Forum accused former military dictator General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) of having hands in the killing of Benazir Bhutto and demanded his arrest and other co-accused in the murder of former prime minister of Pakistan.
Observing the 10th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto here at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, provincial president of Peoples Doctors Forum Professor Dr Nisar, former federal minister Mian Muzaffar Shah, PPP Senator Robina Khalid, PPP women wing provincial president Nighat Yasmin Orakzai, Syed Ayub Shah, Bahramand Tangi and others paid glowing tribute to their slain leader Benzair Bhutto and vowed to accomplish her mission of establishing peace and democracy in the country. The Peoples Doctors Forum has organized the day-long seminar where besides PPP workers doctors associated with the PDF also participated in the anniversary program.
Provincial president of the PDF Dr Nisar said that Benazir Bhutto had sacrificed her life for peace, democracy, social justice and rule of law in the country. "Despite open threats from terrorists Muhtarama Benazir came to Pakistan and held public meetings to mobilize the general masses against military rule and militancy in the country," he said and added that like her father she laid down her life for a sacred cause.
Dr Nisar said that the PPP was still a popular party of the country and those who are hatching conspiracy against the PPP would face humiliation in the next general elections. Former federal minister Mian Muzaffar Shah said that the then military dictator Pervez Musharraf was responsible for the death of Benazir Bhutto as the terrorists were given free hands to continue their activities in the country.
He claimed that the PPP was the only political party that had struggled for supremacy of parliament, rule of law and civilian rule in Pakistan, adding that all the state institutions should honour their constitutional obligations and responsibilities.
He also accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of not fulfilling its claim for eliminating corruption from the government departments. "Even the chief minister Pervez Khattak did not make change in his native town Nowshera then how one can believe that positive change had been made in the whole province," he added.
On this occasion collective prayers were offered for the soul of Benazir Bhutto and commitment to uphold the struggle of their leader for peace, democracy and welfare of the poor people. The provincial president of PDF Dr Nisar also announced to establish Benazir Blood Transfusion units in all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
