HYDERABAD: A delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) led by MNA Sabir Qaimkhani and Salahuddin conveyed grievances of consumers of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) to Chief Executive Officer Raham Ali Otho.

According to a press release, the delegation met the CEO at his office in Hussainabad area here on Wednesday.

The MNAs complained about detection bills, over reading, prolonged hours of load shedding and removal of transformers in Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas districts.

They asked the CEO to not only install the removed transformers but to provide more transformers as well.

Otho informed the delegation that HESCO was not carrying out unannounced power outages rather a regime of load shedding was being imposed in the areas where the recovery of the utility bills was low.

He said the consumers who had received the detection bills may request the HESCO to review those bills to ensure that the penalty was rightly or wrongly imposed.

Responding to the MNAs' request for installation of additional transformers in certain areas of Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas, the CEO assured that the company would consider their request and evaluate the necessity.

MNA Qaimkhani suggested the HESCO chief to install Arial Bundle Conductor (ABC) cables in the densely populated areas to stop the power theft.

Meanwhile, the HESCO chief urged the legislators to assist the HESCO teams in carrying out the recovery drive.

He informed that a consumer or citizen could report to the HESCO about the power theft by a particular individual or in a given area, adding that the identity of the complainant would be kept secret.

MPA Nadeem Siddiqui and other representatives of MQM-P were present at the meeting.
