Eight foreign players have agreed to play Pakistan Super League (PSL) final at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, confirmed Pakistan Cricket Board, executive committee chairman, Najam Sethi on Tuesday. According to details, Quetta Gladiators' Luke Wright and Rilee Rossouw are willing to come to Lahore for the final. Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi has also announced that whole squad of Peshawar will play the final in Lahore if his team qualify. Peshawar Zalmi led by the West Indian all-rounder Darren Sammy. West Indian players Andre Fletcher and Marlon Samuels are also playing in Sammy XI.
Najam Sethi also proclaimed that nobody will be allowed to enter the stadium without original identity card doesn't matter whether he owns a ticket of Rs 500 or Rs 12,000 as tickets of PSL final have also gone on sale. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan also talked to media after inaugurating Gaddafi Stadium's Pavilion End and College End along with Najam Sethi, and said PSL final will make restitution of international in Pakistan.
Shahryar Khan praised Najam Sethi and said his efforts to bring cricket back to Pakistan finally bore fruit and this event will unite the whole nation breaking boundaries of the rich and the poor. Meanwhile, some foreign players have expressed their reservations to travel to Lahore for much-awaited mega event of the cricket tournament. According to sources, Islamabad United players Brad Haddin and Shane Watson have reservations on coming to Lahore. The management is reviewing alternate options for replacement of the two players. There was no official word on the matter.
With only three matches left in the UAE, the PSL and its franchises are figuring out which foreign players will travel to Lahore. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved the holding of final in Lahore on 5th March. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of Provincial Cabinet Committee in Lahore on Monday.
