Seven killed, 33 injured as rainstorm hits Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Seven people were killed and 33 others injured in separate incidents caused by heavy rain and strong winds across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past 24 hours, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The casualties occurred after roofs and walls collapsed in the districts of Bannu, Shangla and Mansehra, the PDMA said in a report issued on Saturday.
Among the deceased were two children, four men and one woman.
The injured included seven men, 12 women and 14 children.
Meanwhile, authorities have warned of a potential risk of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) in the province’s northern regions as rising temperatures and recent rainfall accelerate glacier melting.
The PDMA has directed deputy commissioners in Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Kohistan and Mansehra to remain on high alert and continuously monitor vulnerable locations.
Officials warned that flash floods and urban flooding could develop in low-lying areas.
Local administrations have been instructed to ensure timely warnings and evacuations in high-risk zones.
Residents have been advised to avoid riverbanks, seasonal streams and areas with strong water flows during the ongoing spell of unstable weather.
