At least seven people were killed and five passenger were injured as a speeding passenger van collided with a tractor trolley in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency here on Tuesday. According to details, the incident was occurred when a trailer ran over three motor cars in Jamrud area of Khyber Agency, in which two real brothers, among seven persons were killed and five others received wounds. Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to Khyber Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Police sources said that the seven persons were died on the spot in the collision. Police said that over-speeding was the main cause of the accident. The Jamrud Political tehsildar Asmatullah Wazir while confirming the accident said that cement loaded truck bearing registration no.KAB-1817 was heading toward Torkham border, when it hit by head an opposite side carry van holding number plate, BA-4541. He added that four persons were killed on the spot while the others three succumbed to their injuries during treatment in the hospital.
Soon after accident, local tribesmen rushed to the site, initiated relief works and shifted the wounded and bodies in private vehicles to Jamrud health center for medical aid. The deceased were identified as Gul Shad s/o Amin Khan, Rahid s/o Zar Badsha, Abid s/o Sayal, Aburraziq s/o Sayal Khan, Abdurraziq s/o Walayat Shah, Asim s/o Allah Naz, and Amir s/o Niaz Dil; while the injured were included Abdur Rahim, Sanaullah, Ihsanullah, Saqib and Redi Gul.
The ill-fated tribesmen were returning to their homes after attending a funeral prayer, when they faced a fatal occurrence, tribal told. The intensity of the mishap could be ascertained of the fact that the carry van was completely trampled, the local tribal said. The cause of the accident was stated to be fast driving.
