Cash basis bids for hard red winter wheat were firm in the southern US Plains on Friday after some merchandisers rolled their bids. Dealers in Goodland, Kansas, and Enid, Oklahoma, rolled their basis from the Chicago Board of Trade K.C. wheat December contract to March. It took only 10 cents out of the 20-cent futures spread, in effect raising the flat price paid to farmers. Farmers withheld grain sales after futures prices pared some of their recent losses. K.C. wheat futures drew support from bargain buying after a six-session slide.
