World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Flyweight Champion, Muhammad Waseem arrived in Quetta on Sunday amid cheers and applause. Speaking to media, Waseem said, "I am a Pakistani and I have rejected all the offers. I will only represent my country till last breath." The Quetta-born boxer successfully defended his World Boxing Council (WBC) silver flyweight title last Sunday after defeating Philippines' Giemel Magramo in Seoul, South Korea.
Known as 'Falcon Khan' for his swift boxing style, the 28-year-old outplayed Magramo in a tough 12-round fight. It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved grant of Rs 30 million for boxer Muhammad Waseem.
Pakistani businessman and owner of franchise, Peshawar Zalmi of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Javed Afridi has also announced Rs 2.5 million for boxer Muhammad Waseem to acknowledge his services for Pakistan. Afridi also announced the Quetta-born boxer as Peshawar Zalmi's ambassador.
"He is a real hero and Peshawar Zalmi vows to sponsor him in upcoming events," Afridi added.
