Provincial Minister for Primary & Secondary Health & Chairman Chief Minister's Task Force on Spurious Drugs Kh Imran Nazir along with a squad of drug inspectors raided an illegal herbal pharmaceutical factory in Kattarband area near Thokar Niaz Baig on Saturday. The factory was producing food supplement for children (C-Mom Complan), Pasmodin Syrup, gascard syrup and other herbal products illegally as it was not registered.
Moreover, cleanliness condition in the factory was unsatisfactory. An employee of the factory Abdullah who has been arrested on the spot informed that the factory owner is a resident of Peshawar and is away. Minister Health Imran Nazir while talking to the media said that government is encouraging the standard pharmaceutical companies manufacturing quality medicines. He said illegal manufacturing of medicines and substandard, spurious drugs would not be allowed to be manufactured or sold in the market. He reiterated that nobody would be allowed to play with lives of people.
He announced that government would give a cash award of Rs one million for giving information regarding the illegal and spurious drugs manufacturing units while the name of the informer would be kept confidential. Imran Nazir appreciated the drug inspectors on successful raid. The raiding squad included Shaukat Wahab, Imran Sarfraz, Tufail Mahmood, Kamal Sikandar, Rahim Ahmed, and Rana Shahid Zafar. The raw material and manufactured medicines was confiscated and the factory was sealed.
