Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has geared up drive for the recovery of dues throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In this regard final notices have been sent to defaulter consumers for payment of their out-standing dues, in case of failure their names will be sent to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) under the National Accountability Ordinance 1999.
It is pertinent to mention here that in Mardan Circle, PESCO has an outstanding amount of Rs 425 million against 1665 disconnected domestic, commercial, industrial, agriculture and other consumers. PESCO had served several notices on all defaulters for payment, but no heed was paid and now it has been decided by the high ups to take punitive action against the defaulters and their names will be sent to NAB for further action. In case of failure in depositing their arrears, NAB could impose fine, arrest them or could award both the penalties.
The names of the big defaulters are included Ms Ahmad Steel & Re-Rolling Mill (Rs 40 million) Mian Mahmood of Peshawar Steel Gadoon Amazai (Rs 10 million, Mumtaz Abbas of Zam Cotton Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate (Rs 8.5 million, Yaqoob Mirza Imperial Steel Gadoon Amazai (Rs 7.9 million), Nasir Iqbal of Hamza Steel (Rs 7.8 million) Sheryar Steel (Rs 7.3 million) and Miskeen Afghan Steel (Rs 5.5 million.
