A soldier was injured after a roadside bomb targeting an army convoy went off near Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway toll plaza on Sunday morning. An improvised explosive device (IED), planted near the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway toll plaza went off when an army vehicle was passing, a police source told this scribe.
The sources said the roadside bomb exploded when the convoy of security forces reached Peshawar Ring Road interchange, resultantly a truck in the convoy was partially damaged while a soldier inside the vehicle was hurt.
Soon after the blast, the security forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation to arrest the perpetrators behind the attack.
The bomb disposal squad said that four kilograms of explosive material was used in the blast.
The ISPR confirmed that a security man and partially damaging their vehicle in the bomb attack.
The security sources said eleven soldiers were on board the vehicle, which was partially damaged. The military vehicle was entering Peshawar when it was targeted by the IED.
Police personnel have stated that 4 kilograms of explosives were used in a blast while an investigation has been launched into the matter after cordoning off the entire area. The injured personnel rushed to CMH Peshawar. Partial damage has been caused to the army s truck, told Inter-Services Public relations (ISPR) source.
The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack in an email sent to journalists. "TTP commandos carried out the IED attack on an army truck on the Ring Road near motorway," TTP spokesperson Mohammad Khorasani said in a statement.
