Pakistan on Tuesday became a full member of the International Development Law Organization (IDLO). The Foreign Office spokesperson, in a statement, said that the agreement was signed between Pakistan's Ambassador to Italy Nadeem Riyaz and Ambassador Michele Valensisem, Secretary General of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the depository country for the IDLO Agreement at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome.
IDLO is an inter-governmental organization headquartered in Rome exclusively devoted to promoting the rule of law. The organization enables countries to design, reform and strengthen those laws and institutions most relevant to deliver justice, dignity and economic opportunity. The IDLO's work ranges from helping draft a national constitution, commercial law, intellectual property law, environmental law, to every other area of law, national or international.
As strengthening the rule of law and making the judicial system more accessible and responsive is a high priority for the government, Pakistan will benefit from becoming a full member of the organization by contributing to its activities and decision-making, the spokesman said. Pakistan is the 30th full member of IDLO.
