The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a police report over slow progress made into investigation of cases of target killings of the lawyers in Karachi. A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, heard the case over suo moto of lawyers' target killings at apex court's Karachi Registry. Additional Inspector General Police (AIGP) Karachi Mushtaq Mehr presented the report of cases in which progress was not made so far.
The court rejected the report and expressed severe displeasure over it. The CJ remarked that the court had sought details of all the A-Class cases and not only those related to lawyers' killings. The court said there were hundreds of cases which had been declared A-Class, adding 3 to 4 days after registration of FIR, cases are put in A-Class category and sent into "cold storage".
