The Karachi Port handled 232,278 tonnes of cargo comprising 174,575 tonnes of import cargo and 57,703 tonnes of export cargo including 7,816 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 174,575 tonnes comprised of 27,992 tonnes of containerised cargo; 35,679 tonnes of general cargo; 37,364 tonnes of bulk cargo: 20,979 tonnes of coal; 3,654 tonnes of DAP; 12,731 tonnes of SB meal and 73,540 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 57,703 tonnes comprised of 55,043 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,660 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,816 containers comprising of 4,506 containers import and 3,310 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,404 of 20's and 1,550 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 1 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,028 of 20's and 422 of 40's loaded containers while 278 of 20's and 580 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were nine ships namely Hyundai Confidence, OEL Dubai, Fowairet, Bum Shin, Kiran Caribbean, ER Brest, Grand Quest, Dione Leader and CSC Zhong Hai carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, vehicles and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. OEL Dubai, Kota Kaya, Hanjin White, APL Coral, MT Lahore, Spar Gemini, Dione Leader and Grand Quest carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer and vehicles respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Hanjin White, MT Lahore and Chang Hang Hong Tu carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Kota Kaya carrying containers is expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were three vessels Corvette, Bomar Spring and U Lucky carrying containers and steel respectively due to arrive on Monday, while four vessels viz. Shalamar, Cygnus Ocean, Sea Dolphin C and Hyundai Sunrise carrying oil tanker, DAP and steel plate respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 90,044 tonnes comprising 38,386 tonnes of import cargo and 51,658 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,054 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 38,386 tonnes includes 5,000 tonnes of edible oil; 16,250 tonnes of coal and 17,136 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 51,658 tonnes includes 25,660 tonnes of crude oil and 25,998 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely CV MSC Albany and MT Chem Road Fuji carrying containers and edible oil sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely CV Bomar Spring and MT Red Sun carrying containers and crude oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of five vessels viz. CV MSC Albany, MT Red Sun, MV Alexandrit, Panama Sterling and MT Chem Road Fuji currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, crude oil, coal, soyabean and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as four ships carrying containers and chemical were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday. There were four vessels carrying containers soyabean, crude oil and edible oil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FAP Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Sunday. There are six ships namely CV Bomar Spring, CV Seroja Enam, CV King Fortune, MV GSW Frontier, MT Marinoula and MT Prosperity carrying containers, chemical, furnace oil and edible oil respectively due to arrive on Monday.
